Keyhaven and Pennington Marshes

Directions : Take the Ringwood - Sopley - Christchurch Road to the railway bridge roundabout, then turn left onto the A35 and follow to the next roundabout. Take second exit towards Highcliffe on the A337. Follow this road towards Lymington but watch for Keyhaven signs. These will turn you off onto the B3058 just past Milford-on-Sea. Keyhaven and Hurst Castle are clearly signposted. Drive through the village of Keyhaven and follow road to harbour.

Photo Interest : Good views of wading birds and water fowl of all sorts around harbour and marshes. Would pay to check tides as photography is better on a rising tide with the feeding birds being pushed towards you.

Drawbacks : Very muddy and subject to any South West wind. There is no cover and the area is very exposed. Pay and display car park between 1st March and 31st October. Ferry to Hurst Castle from Keyhaven is quite expensive but does save a considerable walk.
