London Transport (Acton)

London Transport Museum (Acton)

Directions : Take A31, M3 towards London. Continue to end of M3 and follow signs to Richmond. Cross Thames and at roundabout take first exit towards Kew Gardens and Brentford. Having crossed the Thames again via Kew Bridge, turn right at the T-junction and take second left at the next roundabout onto the North Circular Road. Turn right at first set of traffic lights and continue to Acton Town underground station. Museum and works are immediately on the left.

Photo Interest : Set open days only for individuals, although if a party of 10 applies they will open up on any mutually suitable date. Plenty of buses, tube trains and associated 'bits' to shoot. Will take about 2 to 3 hours minimum to cover the museum which is all under cover but well illuminated. Individual cost is approximately £9.00 each for a party of 10. Allegedly, over 37,000 items on display. Our guide gave up guiding and let us do our own thing once we were in the main shed area. All the staff were helpful and happy to explain what they were doing and why (and pose!)

For : All undercover and very few 'Keep Off' or 'Keep Out' signs.

Against : Need to make up a party which gives much better access for photography as there are no crowds. ( Our party of ten were the only people apart from staff there).
